See our latest Virginia Lottery winners from January!

The new year is off to a great start and especially so if you’re one of our latest winners! We’ve got the latest edition of our Big Winners map, and it focuses on all the Virginia Lottery prizes greater than $1,000 that were claimed in January 2020. Last month, we had more than 2,100 players win $1,000 or more, which generated more than $42 million in total winnings!

There were a lot of exciting winners in Virginia over the course of January. We started the year off with the drawing for Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. Two players, LaToya Gray-Rogers of Portsmouth and Jason Spainhour of Chesapeake, each won $1 million when their numbers were selected during the drawing; the winners were announced on Jan. 1. Five other players each won $100,000- you can read more about those winners in the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle blog post. There’s still one $1 million prize left unclaimed, so make sure to check the list of Raffle winning numbers to see if that winner is you!

We also welcomed two other millionaires: Charles Coles of Charlottesville and Mary Evans of Hanover County. Charles won one of the four top prizes on the Double Cash Doubler Scratcher, and Mary won $1 million in the Jan. 22 Powerball drawing. What makes Mary’s win even more unique is that she used the Virginia Lottery’s Online Play subscription program to purchase her winning Powerball ticket over the internet.

“I bought a subscription because it was convenient,” she told Lottery officials. “I didn’t have to go to a store to buy it.”

A quick reminder: As we did with the December winner-awareness map, each dot on the Retail map below shows a prize of $1,000 or greater that was claimed in January. You can click on each dot for more detail about the prize, such as the winner’s first name, the game he or she played, the prize amount won and the retailer that sold the winning ticket.

We also have a map showing the latest winners from our Online Play subscriptions program and MobilePlay winners from the Virginia Lottery app. In January, there were nearly 370 winners of $50 or more, and these players claimed more than $2.2 million in total winnings in January!
